The University of South Carolina Sumter (USC Sumter) competes in organized competitive multiplayer video game competitions: Esports. USC Sumter is an official varsity program, sanctioned by the university and the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE). Students are recruited from in state, out-of-state, worldwide, and current students. Students in the program compete through a variety of games across North America.
USC Sumter competes in NACE sponsored competitions and competitions through TESPA, College League of Legends (CLoL), Collegiate Star League (CSL), and AVGL. USC Sumter also competes in institutional created seasons with colleges across the country.
USC Sumter plays League of Legends, Overwatch, Hearthstone, Rocket League, CS:GO, Heroes of the Storm, Paladins, Smite, Smash, NBA2k, Madden, and FIFA. Additional games are in consideration each year. Students will compete for spots on “1st team”, “2nd team”, etc. when appropriate. The Esports facility is conveniently located in the Student Union Building (SUB). Students train, practice, meet, and compete in a dedicated space. The program was founded by Kris Weissmann, the Director of Student Life and Esports. Weissmann is the Director and the Head Coach. The program is assisted by IT Specialist, Assistant Coach, Brad Rogers.

Our facility is equipped with 19 stations, with Gravity Gaming PCs and E-Blue desks, chairs, mice, keyboards, and headsets. One of the Gravity Gaming PCs is dedicated to coaching, streaming, and program media.

Hearthstone is a free-to-play online digital collectible card game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. ... The game is a turn-based card game between two opponents, using constructed decks of 30 cards along with a selected hero with a unique power.
Soccer meets driving once again in this physics-based multiplayer-focused sequel to Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars. Choose a variety of high-flying vehicles equipped with huge rocket boosters to score aerial goals and pull-off game-changing saves.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) is a multiplayer first-person shooter video game developed by Hidden Path Entertainment and Valve Corporation. The game pits two teams against each other: the Terrorists and the Counter-Terrorists. Both sides are tasked with eliminating the other while also completing separate objectives. A battle-royale game-mode, "Danger Zone", was introduced in 2018.
Paladins provides various characters, called Champions, for the players to choose during their gaming sessions. Being a team-based shooter, players must rely on strategy, character knowledge, coordination, and teamwork in order to attain victory. Players may use VGS, along with text and voice chat to communicate.
