USC Sumter Esports was founded in the summer of 2015. It is one of the oldest official Esports programs in the United States. The program has grown and developed significantly in the past 11 years; increasing infrastructure, winning championships, and building lasting support.

The program staff and students pride themselves on commitment and dedication. Players and teams of all skill level compete in the program, which allows for player growth and skill development, while also promoting competitive opportunities among all. Players are recruited from in-state, out-of-state, and worldwide.

Students in the program compete through many popular games: Call of Duty, Marvel Rivals, Valorant, Fortnite, Madden, EAFC, SSBU and more. Additional games are in consideration for each academic year. USC Sumter competes in a variety of leagues: NJCAAE, CCL, PCL, ECAC, and more.

Facility

USC Sumter’s Esports Facility is equipped with 40+ esports PCs and consoles; and supported with dedicated fiber internet to the facility and directly to the equipment.

Games & Teams

Call of Duty

Call of Duty is a first-person shooter video game franchise published by Activision. The games were first developed by Infinity Ward, then also by Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games. Several spin-off and handheld games were made by other developers. The most recent title, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, was released on October 25, 2019.

Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals is a hero shooter video game developed and published by NetEase Games in collaboration with Marvel Games. The game was released for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on December 6, 2024, with a PlayStation 4 version released on September 12, 2025.

Rocket League

Soccer meets driving once again in this physics-based multiplayer-focused sequel to Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars. Choose a variety of high-flying vehicles equipped with huge rocket boosters to score aerial goals and pull-off game-changing saves.

Rainbow Six Siege

Rainbow Six Siege puts heavy emphasis on environmental destruction and cooperation between players. Each player assumes control of an attacker or a defender in different gameplay modes such as rescuing a hostage, defusing a bomb, and taking control of an objective within a room.

Valorant

Valorant is a free-to-play first-person hero shooter developed and published by Riot Games, for Microsoft Windows. First teased under the codename Project A in October 2019, the game began a closed beta period with limited access on April 7, 2020, followed by an official release on June 2, 2020.

Madden

Fortnite

Fortnite is an online video game and game platform developed by Epic Games and released in 2017. It is available in seven distinct game mode versions that otherwise share the same general gameplay and game engine: Fortnite Battle Royale, a battle royale game in which up to 100 players fight to be the last person standing.

FIFA

FIFA is a series of association football video games or football simulator, released annually by Electronic Arts under the EA Sports label.  The Guardian called the series "the slickest, most polished and by far the most popular football game around." As of 2011, the FIFA franchise has been localised into 18 languages and available in 51 countries.

Super Smash Bros.

Super Smash Bros. is a crossover fighting video game between several different Nintendo franchises, including Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Star Fox, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Metroid, F-Zero, Mother, Kirby, and Pokémon. It presents a cast of characters and locations from these franchises and allows players to use each character's unique skills.
